CV WRITING TIPS

1. Tailor Your CV to the Role

  • Customize for the Job: Highlight relevant skills, experiences, and achievements specific to the role and company.

  • Include Keywords: Use language from the job description (e.g., "lean manufacturing," "process improvement," "PLC fault finding")

2. Create a Strong Personal Profile

  • Write a compelling personal statement at the top, summarizing your skills, experience, and career goals in 3–5 lines.

  • Focus on how you add value to a prospective employer

3. Showcase Key Achievements


•    Use bullet points under each role to highlight specific accomplishments.
•    Quantify results where possible:
Example: "Reduced machine downtime by 15% through implementing a predictive maintenance schedule."

 

5. Emphasize Training and Certifications


•    Highlight relevant professional development courses, safety training, or certifications relevant 

 

6. Use a Clean and Professional Layout


•    Use clear headings, consistent fonts, and professional formatting.
•    Stick to 2 pages max (unless you're applying for very senior roles).
•    Use reverse chronological order, listing your most recent experience first.

 

7. Avoid Common Pitfalls


•    Eliminate spelling and grammar errors (proofread carefully).
•    Avoid irrelevant details (e.g., hobbies unless they’re directly relevant).
